Operation Flashpoint 2: Developer Walkthrough

Wow. Over 70 guns, 50 vehicles, EVERYTHING on the island (campaign) is real, no made up buildings or villages and what-not, buildings and vehicles staying blown up for the entire game… The list goes on and on. Codemasters (the new developing team for the game) are really trying to stay to the roots of the original OFP (Operation Flashpoint). For instance, if you get critically wounded, you’re going to die. There’s no magic medicine that will keep you alive. This is a realistic simulation of war, if you run out in the open, trying to be a lone wolf, you may not live very long.

The strategic elements of moving your squads and all of the vehicles in the game, which there are many, make the game seem like real war. Compared to the action arcade oriented shooters we all know, this is a slower, more methodical game that rewards players for their patience. This game is going to appeal to mature, intelligent players who need realistically tense action. Because when the action happens, you’ll have to think fast.

They also mentioned that the game will have online co-op through the main campaign, as well as the online scenario creation editor from the first game.

20 Minute Fallout 3 Gameplay Demo

Above is a huge gameplay demo of one of the most anticipated game this year, Fallout 3. The gameplay demonstrates a lot of what was already shown for Fallout 3 but just add 10 minutes more of questions answered and more features shown. Multiplayer, Drugs, Open-world, crippling of body parts, radiated food - are all tidbits and questions answered in the video.

Todd (the guy whos demoing it for Gamespot) even blows up a whole street because of the cars in the game might have some nuclear-matter still in them and boy-oh-boy what an explosion. For more information on the game, look at the paragraph below.

Vault 101 – Jewel of the Wastes. For 200 years, Vault 101 has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tec® engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you’ve ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father, and the truth. Fallout 3 released this fall.

Bungie’s E3 Announcement Canceled, Halo Game Confirmed by Microsoft

If you knew about the drama which was happening for the last day or two then you’d probably know about the drama actually being true. Bungie was all ready and forward to announce their new game today but 12 hours ago a sudden message was posted on their splash page saying that their publisher shelved the announcement.

In an interview with MTV Multiplayer blog Microsoft’s head of Xbox Don Mattrick confirmed that Bungie is working on a new Halo title. Mattrick told MTV that Bungie’s next title wasn’t revealed because Microsoft felt they had enough content and excitement surrounding its other announcements (Final Fantasy XIII).

When pressed on the lack of Halo news, specifically regarding Ensemble Studio’s real-time title, Halo Wars, Matrrick told MTV not to worry and announcements would be coming and then let it slip that Bungie is working on a Halo title. Matrrick then clarified that the Bungie project is not related to Halo Wars or the the long-announced Peter Jackson project, codenamed Halo: Chronicles.

Leaked Emails Confirm $299 Xbox 360 and on new 60-GB Model

The rumors of an upcoming price drop for the Xbox 360 have grown from leaks to flood today, as shortly on the heels of the reveal of GameStop promo material hyping the new price point, a Microsoft email to GameStop and Blockbuster has hit the net that blows the story wide open. According to the email, Microsoft aims to make room for the $299 Xbox 360 Premium (20-GB) in the product family by launching a new 60-GB Pro model this month (July).

No price is given for the new 60-GB hardware package, but for those feeling squeezed by their current 360’s smaller HDD, Microsoft will offer some decent HDD upgrade options. In “late October / early November,” the company will launch the “Xbox 360 60-GB LIVE Starter Pack,” a $99.99 bundle that will include a 60-GB HDD, 3-months of Xbox Live, a wired headset, and an Ethernet cable. Also noted in the Microsoft email are plans to drop the price of the 120-GB Xbox 360 HDD to $149.99 in September.

It seems apparent that Microsoft will officially announce the news at its upcoming E3 keynote next week. We’re just hoping they’ll have something left to surprise us with after such porous secret-keeping so far.
